New Hampshire Folks: Come Hear Me Talk About Life in Japan!

Hey all,

No post this week since I’m back in New Hampshire enjoying some much-needed time off and doing a whole bunch of things I haven’t been able to do for the past 12 or so months.  In no particular order, here’s a quick list:

  • Performing my cousin’s wedding ceremony up in Maine. This will be the third wedding ceremony I’ve performed and the first for a family member, and I felt honored and humbled that they asked me.
  • Eating American pizza, reuben sandwiches, hamburgers, and all the other foods I can’t get back in Japan.
  • Seeing all the family and friends I also can’t see back in Japan.  Living abroad gets lonely sometimes, so it’s important to stay connected to the people you care about most.
  • Playing Mega Man on an actual NES.
  • Playing more board games.
  • Keeping up with this blog, some editing projects (more to come on that soon!), plus more creative work.  I’ve been mostly working in the mornings in my brother’s basement where it’s (fairly) quiet, then taking the afternoons off.
  • Buying new shoes.  No men’s size 14 in Japan…
  • Stocking up on American deodorant, toothpaste, peanut butter, cough drops, and other necessities.
  • Relaxing, unwinding, and trying not to think about stressful things.

That’s all for now—I’ll be back next week with some more pics from Japan and the week after that with another Day Job post.   Until then, stay cool, and I hope you’re finding your own balance between being productive and doing things that making you happy.

Oh yeah, before you go…
